Known issues so far:

- Not great on 4:3 aspect ratios (two crucial elements chopped off edges)
- Software cursor slow on some systems
- Linux default prefs are a bit weird, will add in-game settings and/or a launcher eventually
- Rain sound stops when looking out the open window and then go back
- Some text boxes are cut off on the right side of the screen
- Sometimes some text boxes do not trigger at the right times (weird, that one)
- There's some issue with the towel text on the balcony not triggering properly. This seems to vary for different people; sometimes it repeats whatever the last text box was that you looked at.
- The 'mouseover' cursor change is very subtle currently - we'll make it more obvious.

Hello!

Thank you for the Demo or prototype :-) Great work so far!

Just a few things I noticed.

I play the linux version. The run.x86 and run.x86_64 are not executeable. This is, because the file was zip packed. With zip on linux file permissions are not stored. Perhaps a small readme for beginner linux gamers would help them. So they new how to start the demo erm prototype :-) :

unzip MakersEdenPrototype-Lin.zip
cd MakersEdenPrototype-Lin
chmod 744 ./run.x86*
./run.x86 or ./run.x86_64 for 64bit.

On my system the game started flawlessly after the abobe procedure. Anyway I had a few glitches: The mouse curser is doubled in the game (game curser + systemcureser) makes it difficult to point and click at things.

The text on top of the screen is not entirely readable. Its cropped at the top.

My system:

Linux, Ubuntu 12.04 32 Bit
Kernel 3.2.0-48-generic-pae
16 GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 650 GTX
Screenresolution: 1680x1050

If you need more system infos, please aks. I'll send them asap.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you.

RockyBoulder - thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I'll make a tar shortly. I also need to look at what the best default prefs would be for Linux, since we won't have a launcher or in-game settings ready for quite a while yet.

Hi there, great work with this project.

My specs
Lenovo x61
4GB RAM
Core2Duo 2GHZ
120GB SSD
Intel Graphics
Resolution 1024x768
OS: Crunchbang Linux (Debian)

Running the run.x86 executable.

Issue
I can only see the left half of the screen, and there is no way for me to change the display settings.

It also runs a little slow, but that is probably due to lack of dedicated graphics card.

Great work and good luck!

There will be a launcher and/or in-game settings eventually, for now you could try editing the prefs file directly as described here:

http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/170401 ... references

And I will try it on the Linux netbook some time soon to see about optimising for on-board graphics setups. The textures are quite huge right now and that's probably what's causing the lag. The rain maybe too (10000 particles). ;)

Keep checking in for an updated demo some time during the week.

As mentioned it does not run straight away. tar.gz would be great!
Also I have a crappy resolution on my couch laptop ;)
1366x768 but it does go fullscreen, but it gives me I think a third of the screen.
Can't select anything from the menu as it isn't visable...

Looks like it only runs on 1920 by 1080 right now?

Thanks for the DEMO :)

Yeah, there's currently no easy way to change the resolution in Linux - Rusty's linked a Unity page above that explains how to change it from the preferences file though, which you could do for now. But he is working on a fix and will upload a new version of the demo later this week ^.^

Got it fixed by the posted link.

Change the resolution in: /home/username/.config/unity3d/Screwy Lightbulb Entertainment/The Maker's Eden/prefs

For my ultrabook:

Code:
<unity_prefs version_major="1" version_minor="0">
   <pref name="Screenmanager Is Fullscreen mode" type="int">1</pref>
   <pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Height" type="int">768</pref>
   <pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Width" type="int">1366</pref>
</unity_prefs>

Another version later this week? Great! :)
